NAPOLEONIC WARS - FICTION
"Jester's Fortune"
By Dewey Lambdin
Our bad boy, Commander Alan Lewrie of the 18-gun
Sloop of War HMS Jester, is assigned to a 4-ship squadron sent to operate in the
Adriatic Sea. Napoleon's Armies are threatening to overrun Italy and the small
squadron is tasked to cause as much disruption of French shipping as possible.
To this end, the commander of the squadron seeks out and enlists the aid of
Serbian Pirates. This is a terrible mistake! In this novel the hero keeps his
mouth shut (most of the time) and his pants buttoned up. But, as all the other
Lambdin novels, a great read. The dialog is at times hilarious and incredibly
clever.
